about.me customizable, free "splash" page for your content!

The newest BzzCampaign I have joined is called about.me. This is a fully customizable page that allows users to share all online profiles, etc. in one, organized place as well as giving the user feedback (i.e. how many people looked at the page? how much time do you, the user, spend on your own page? etc.). I do not find a personal use for this type of thing, but I suppose if you are starting a business it could be extremely useful.

Even though I do not find it useful for myself, I did play with it, and I made my own page! I was able to use a photo of my own as my background image without the image becoming distorted like on other sites, and I could choose ANY colors I wanted for everything on the page from background to titles. The one problem I found is the font selection: it's very limited, and I had a difficult time choosing a font for my page that I found aesthetically pleasing and to my general tastes. Font aside, users can add ANY websites of which they are members/users to their about.me pages, plus about.me can be connected to a plethora of other social networking sites (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.). The purpose is to have all of one's social connections available in one place.

As I said, I would only find this useful for business. For personal use, I do not want to make a page from which others may find me anywhere else on the internet. That said, though, the page is fully customizable, so only the sites you want to be shared will be shared.

I hope this is useful!

(and here is my page!

Sinful Colors "Why Not"

Two coats, Orly Bonder (base coat), Seche Vite (top coat)

Opaque in one coat, but I did two just for good measure. It's thick but not so thick that it will make a mess. I only had to dip the brush into the polish once to get enough to paint five nails, which is insane. It dries well. It has not chipped or flaked in a few days, but there is minor tip-wear (I type a lot). Excellent nail polish. ALSO it only costs 1.99 USD. Seriously.

Scrubbing Bubbles Continuous Clean Toilet Cleaning Gel

I did receive this for free as a BzzAgent, but I would definitely purchase this of my own accord.

I find this product extremely easy to use, and the scent, called "Fresh Clean", is a nice, clean scent that is not overwhelming (I am very sensitive to scents). It comes in a tube of a gel that doubles as an applicator, and it is used by pressing the end to the inside of the toilet bowl while holding down the button on the side and pushing on the plunger. The first time I used it I had a little trouble, but now I've got the hang of it, and it only takes me a second to apply the gel to the toilet bowl. The gel lasts inside the toilet bowl for a few weeks, and it gradually disappears with each flush of the toilet. I found that it kept my toilet bowl cleaner and shinier between regular toilet bowl cleanings than if I hadn't used it at all. A cap for the end of the tube is also included to cover the gel while the dispenser is not in use, and I really like that added touch. I have always really liked Scrubbing Bubbles products, so I was excited to try this one, and I was not disappointed. I would recommend this to others.

Bzz Bzz Bzz (SC Johnson Smart and Easy Spring Cleaning!)

As I believe I've stated, I am a BzzAgent, so I occasionally receive products to try for free in exchange for reviewing the items. Today I will be reviewing the Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer with Extend-A Clean.

What it claims:
penetrates and dissolves soap scum on contact
wide spray nozzle
leaves a brilliant shine
makes scrubbing "virtually obsolete"

What it does:
The wide spray nozzle allows one to hold the can farther away from the surface to be cleaned, and it does actually spray the delightful foam in a pretty wide area. The problem I found is that in one use 3/4 of the 20 oz. bottle was used for my shower, and all I did was lightly spray the foam over the walls (tiles) and the tub. That said, it cleaned my tub exceptionally well with very little scrubbing on my part. The directions say to spray the foam and let it sit for three minutes before rinsing or wiping it away. So I sprayed it all over, waited, and wiped. I found that the product cleaned the tub a lot better than it cleaned the tiles, but overall my shower looks really nice and clean after one use. Also shiny! I did find that the tiles needed a tiny bit of scrubbing but nothing that would make your arm fall off!
The Extend-A-Clean aspect of this product means that the chemicals that clean the shower are re-activated every time they get wet, so for up to four days after the initial clean, each shower causes the Scrubbing Bubbles to get scrubbing again! I'm not sure how I would test this part, so I will just leave this up to you, the reader, to form an opinion.
The scent is a very light, typical bathroom-cleaner scent with maybe a hint of lemon? It is not strong or overpowering, and it did not irritate my airways or my eyes while I was cleaning.

Overall:
I like this product, and I would definitely purchase this product myself, of my own accord.

I do have a few other products I received in my BzzKit to review, so keep a look out for those!!

Memories of My Melancholy Whores

I have difficulty using words to describe anything Gabriel García Márquez has written, so I will review this with one word and hope all readers can take my word for it: BEAUTIFUL.

Review: Wet'n'Wild Eye Makeup Remover

This is really awful. It removes eye makeup well. The packaging is very practical and minimal. It is all downhill from here. It stings the eyes/eye area, and it smells like an orange liqueur mixed with gin, not a good combination. At 1.99 USD it is quite well priced considering it is awful, and I do not feel like I really wasted too much money on it, but I would certainly not repurchase this product. I will probably never use it again either. There is a slight possibility I would use it in a serious emergency, but that is highly unlikely. I think I would rather scrub my makeup off with a brillo pad that put this on my face again.

Wet'n'Wild ColorIcon Trio - I'm Getting Sunburned

I have used this trio quite a bit, so I feel comfortable giving it an actual review instead of just swatches. This is one of the newer ones that has been released within the last couple of months, and similar to the more recent ones, pigmentation is great as is the texture of the shadows. Each shadow in the palette contains a high volume of shimmer, but it never appears chunky: the shimmer always looks really pretty and smooth.
The brown in this palette is absolutely insanely pigmented. I barely need to touch it with my brush to get enough to do the crease and outer corner and have both turn out very dark. It almost ends up being black on the lids, especially from a distance, but up close, it is a gorgeous shimmering chocolate brown.
The brow bone color (the pink) does not work at all for a highlight on the eyes. It works best placed directly on the orbital bone above the brown and a separate, matte color right under the brow to highlight. Each color looks really nice on its own, but the pink is the least pigmented. It could potentially be applied as a highlight if one used an extremely light hand with it.
The bronze-y lid color can apply a bit chunky if I try to sweep it on with a brush rather than using a patting motion. I also get a lot of shimmery fallout, so I would recommend doing face makeup after applying any of these shades.
The end result, though, is a smooth, shimmery eye, and despite the high shimmer in the crease color, it has the color depth to provide shading in the crease.
This palette is definitely 2.99 USD well spent, and I highly recommend trying this if these colors interest you.

127 Hours

I finally saw this movie the other day, and it is intense. Really intense. I have a soft spot for James Franco because he plays my favorite character in Freaks and Geeks, and I have liked him since the first time I watched that show when I was like 10 or something, so watching him in that role was tough for me. It's supposed to be tough, obviously, as being stuck with one's arm under a rock pretty much blows. It made me feel incredibly sad and inspired and ill. Watching the arm amputation did not bother me nearly as much as watching James Franco drink his own urine. The way those parts were shot (the drinking of any liquid) is what made that part so gross for me.
It is a very beautifully executed film, and I definitely think it is worth watching. I am not sure I believe James Franco deserves an Oscar for that role, but I'm not one of the few voting, so I guess that doesn't matter.

I suppose that's all to say about this one. Danny Boyle made the film in a way that forces people to feel the way they should feel watching a man go through that kind of experience. Mischief managed.

Wet ' n ' Wild 8 Pan Palette - Comfort Zone

I bought this today at Walgreens for 4.99 USD. That's quite a good deal considering these shadows are really nicely pigmented, very smooth, blendable, and NOT tested on animals. The light chocolate brown with the green-ish sheen is a perfect dupe for MAC's "Club" eyeshadow, which is an amazing shadow. Since I just bought this today I have not yet used it on my eyes, but I did play around with the colors quite a bit on my hands/arms, so I feel confident in saying that I like this palette. Also, I have used so many of the new Color Icon shadows and palettes from Wet ' n ' Wild that I can say the overall quality is good. They are mostly the same quality with the exception of maybe one or two shadows. This palette has no disappointments in it, though.

If these are the kinds of colors you like, I highly recommend checking this out!

Sally Hansen "Midnight in NY"

Because this is from the Complete Salon Manicure line, I did not use a base coat or a top coat. I really put this one to the test! It lasted four days with no chipping, peeling, or any other problems. Very little tip wear. It dries to a vinyl-like finish, not shiny. I used three coats to enhance the glitter, but two coats is sufficient for an opaque finish. Next time I paint my nails with this, I will definitely use a top coat as I think it looks much prettier with a nice, shiny finish. I have always liked this line of polishes from Sally Hansen, and this one does not disappoint. It is ridiculously pretty, and photos really do not do it justice. It has glitter particles in a range of colors from green to orange to silver to blue. All kinds of pretty glitter. The glitter in this is not obnoxious or over the top, and it is not at all difficult to remove like some other glitter polishes can be. Overall, I highly recommend this polish, and I LOVE it.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows (a review, and I cried)

If you read the book, you know why I cried. It is sad. It's more sad to see it than to read about it. I did not think it would be that way.

Anyway, I found this movie to be most true to the book than the rest (which makes sense as they made this one into two movies instead of one), and I appreciate that a lot. Every scene has that dark, silvery quality to it which adds the necessary sense of danger without scaring people too much. There are obviously things that didn't make it, but the most important things did. (I also hear everything will be on the DVD.)

Without the book, this one stands alone. Without the other movies it wouldn't be as sad, but it still stands alone. So congratulations David Yates. I approve of your work, and as you know, I am very important.

So overall I had a difficult time watching this one because so many things happen, and it all makes me sad. Harry Potter has always made me sad anyway, but seeing people* die just exacerbates that.

I really don't have much to say. Well done, nicely executed. The actors did quite well, as usual. I will say, however, that someone ought to have put Rupert Grint on a diet. He's not supposed to be "fluffy". He's supposed to be gangly and weird. Harry's also a little too muscular. And I would never complain about Emma Watson.

Eclipse review to come

I saw it both in IMAX and not, so I'll be comparing the two experiences, and because I've read the book several times, that will also come up a lot. I just have to organize my thoughts a bit more in order to write a decent review. I can say, however, that overall it's a negative review.
