Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Photos + Review

The above photo of the mascara on my lashes was taken after I had taken a nap which accounts for the mascara flakes underneath my eye.

What You Should Know:
- America's most iconic mascara brand introduces a new innovative applicator brush -- The Great Little Grabber
- Easily reaches the inner and outer corners of the eye
- Builds your lash look with no clumps
- Available in three washable shades
- Available at mass retailers for 6.40 USD

What Maybelline Claims:
Lots of Lashes features the new Great Little Grabber brush, a heart-shaped applicator that lets you easily reach all of your lashes -- even those pesky ones in the corners -- for a multiplied lash look with no clumps.
No need to let mascara dry between coats
Mascara removes easily with soap and water or makeup remover

My Findings:
Lots of Lashes does provide really nice separation while also giving lots of volume to my lashes, which I find unusual in a mascara. The brush shape really helps to get every lash coated with mascara. The mascara is nicely buildable, and while I do see some clumping, it's not the kind that looks like all of my lashes have stuck together to create what I shall call a uni-lash. The result is long and voluminous looking lashes, and as I have this in the color Very Black, it makes my lashes look very black, true to its name. It removes fairly easily, but I have found that it flakes off during removal, and I end up with little mascara flakes all over my face. I tried removing it with a simple cleanser with water, and that caused the most flaky removal. The best way for me to remove this mascara and minimize my risk of panda eyes or mascara flakes galore is to use a makeup removing wipe and then wash my face. The problem with this method, however, is that I find with a makeup removing wipe I still have to work a bit to remove all of the mascara and all of the flakes of mascara that gather on my lower lash line which causes me to experience irritation in my undereye area. I plan to try using plain olive oil to remove in the future because that is a fail-safe method for removing any eye makeup without irritation. Overall, though, I love this mascara, and I would certainly purchase it of my own accord. I must be honest, however. I would not have tried this mascara if it had not been sent to me free of charge to try. * I recommend it to those who use good eye makeup removers who want good length, separation, and volume in one mascara coupled with a very black color.

*I received this product as a BzzAgent.

24 October 2009

Shopping, shopping.

I went shopping at six in the morning yesterday to buy some makeup. I was awake, couldn't get back to sleep, wanted something to do. I went to Wal-Mart to get some of the new Hard Candy stuff. I got one blush, one mascara, and one concealer palette. Then I looked at the ingredients and noticed PALMITATE. It's in the concealer palette. Will not repurchase that item.

Aside from that, the stuff is OK. The blush is smooth (it has mineral oil--ick); the concealers are smooth; and the mascara is blue. I haven't really been able to try it since I already had mascara on. I also bought the Maybelline Pulse Perfection mascara because I just had to. I decided to skip L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion for now.

I bought new face creams. They are the same as the one I currently use, just different formulas. I currently use a vitamin C cream. I bought a super rich moisturizing one and a multivitamin one. Of course, I did not buy those at Wal-Mart (as if, ugh).

I forgot to buy a pill cutter. My pharmacist informed me that their store is closing, and I will never see her again. That makes me incredibly sad. She insisted on handling my order, presumably to say good bye. I will miss her.

I need tea bags. That way I can make more than one cup of tea per cup of tea? um anyway.

I bought a shirt. It is dark blue. I love it. The end.

LIST MANIA

I'm not going to share my list, but I made a huge list of beauty products to try.

I was at a stupid Wal-Mart last week, and I noticed that L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion has finally been released in the U.S. (or maybe just my area, but I'm pretty sure it's U.S.). I have doubts about it, but I MUST OWN IT just the same. I have to try it.

On that note, my favorite mascara has changed. It is officially NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Long Lash. It makes my lashes look insanely long and gorgeous and flirty! I wore it yesterday to visit a friend, and friend did indeed make a comment on my makeup. I'm sure friend meant the mascara, since I wasn't wearing much else.

I've also become fascinated by a few mascaras that have recently been released. I must purchase and test all of them.

This Mascara

I want this mascara in "sapphire", but I don't see a point to it. It's obviously not something one would wear everyday. Mascaras last 3-6 months. It's VERY bright and pretty, but it's such an odd thing for Estee Lauder to put out. It seems out of character for them. Now that I've thought about it, I don't really want it.

So there!

10 September 2009

In Love with Peter Bjorn and John. Not a new thing.

I did my nails! I chose a color! yay. Wild Mink by China Glaze. That picture blows, but I don't feel like taking a better one. Since it's still summer for a couple of weeks, I want to use all of my summer colors! I am so excited for fall and winter though! This is one of my favorite pink nail polishes, even though the quality of China Glaze is SO sub-par. I should have used about three coats, but I didn't feel like it.

Yeah, my boyfriend takes four hours to respond to my text messages. What were you doing, love? HMM?! with your other girlfriend, eh? HMPH!

I love writing reviews for makeup products

Also, I tried my Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara, finally. I hate it. My expectations were a lot higher since so many people had so many good things to say, but it SUCKS. I will review it further later.

P.P.S. I love wintergreen Tic Tacs.

Public Enemies

Yes. Yes. Yes.   I have been waiting for this movie for ages, and now that I have seen it, something has been fulfilled (duh). Johnny Depp played the perfect John Dillinger, and Christian Bale played the perfect Melvin Purvis by making him like the complete idiot he was. And of course, the beautiful Marion Cotillard played her part as Billie Frechette perfectly, as she always does. She, being quite endearing by her own account, made the character very endearing, and it was heartbreaking to watch her cry at the end. I am very disappointed that the end of the movie did not say that the prostitute who sold Dillinger out in hopes of staying in America instead of being deported back to shitty Romania was later deported anyway, which means she sold out her friend who trusted her for nothing. Tsk tsk. There were a couple of inaccuracies, such as Frechette's arrest, but overall, they are easy to overlook. Everything about the film was very well done.

Next up: BRUNO! He is a much better character than Borat, so this one promises to be more funny. And I do love me some Sacha Baron Cohen. He is hot when he's not dressed as an Austrian homosexual, and he's damn funny when he is. (and he has the most Jewish name EVER) I think the latter sentence is an example of zeugma, but I can't be sure as I'm not sure I understand the definition of that word just yet.

9 July the Colour Craft collection is being released by MAC, and I am just hoping that I'm not as impressed with the colors as I think I'll be. That way I won't want to buy anything, and I definitely won't be disappointed when I don't get anything. I love their MSFs. That's really all I like from MAC. MSFs and lip products. I suppose their brighter eye shadows are nice, too. I still really want Chrome Yellow and Sushi Flower.

Yesterday I bought the best thing of my life: Soap and Glory's Flake Away body polishing scrub. It is amazing. It exfoliates really well without being painful, smells delicious, and leaves skin feeling super soft. It apparently has moisturizers in it as well because after I used it, I didn't feel as if I needed any lotion, though now I am tempted to buy Soap and Glory body butter or something. While out I also picked up Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara to try it since I hear it's good, and I love mascaras. I have not opened it yet because I have a lot of mascaras opened at the moment, and I don't want to have to throw away a bunch of mascara because I couldn't use it all up.

06 June 2009

I shopped again.

My lighting gives things a reddish glow, but I did my nails today with my new nail polish: A Grape Fit! by OPI.

I also bought Done out in Deco, Yoga-Ta Get This Blue!, and a Revlon nail polish in Gold Get 'Em. The last was on clearance, and it's a really shimmery, pastel yellow. The OPI polishes are colors after which I have been lusting for quite some time. They're buy 2 get 1 free at Ulta, so I grabbed some. In the nail department I also bought OPI's AvoPlex exfoliating cuticle treatment. I'm pretty sure that I don't need it since I use my Burt's Bees cuticle creme everyday, but we'll see. I like the way it smells!

I bought one more hair product for the week: got2b Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion. It is a heat and UV protectant while also smoothing the hair, of course. I used it, and the smell bothers me (too sweet), but it did what it's supposed to do. I also used the mousse today. I like the mousse. It didn't make my hair feel gross or anything, but it has the same smell as the lotion, obviously.

While at Ulta I got a NYX lipstick in Pandora. It's a purple color, the same color as the African Queen lip gloss. I like it in small doses.

I also got the Physician's Formula Baked Collection Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Baked Oatmeal. I swatched them, and they are all really pretty. The only problem is that the packaging is difficult to fit into my storage. I'm running out of space! And despite being a bit bulky, I like the little compact. It's a very thin line.

I used the L'Oreal Telescopic mascara today, and I am not impressed. I don't know why anyone would be. As I said, the wand is flimsy, and when applied, the mascara is too wet. It clumped, too. While applying, the flimsy wand feels like it's going to break against my lashes. It lengthens well enough, no volumizing. It's just a normal mascara to me, not the worst, not the best.

I also got a Twilight poster and stuck it on my door, but we don't need to talk about that (but it's so fucking hilarious).

I finally figured out the proper way to use the Seche Vite topcoat, and it's a BITCH to use. One must let it bead up on the brush and then drop that onto the nail, then spread it around while the polish is still wet. It doesn't disturb the polish, but it can get a little messy. I got it all over my hands. Also, it is high maintenance! It requires a thinner to keep it workable. Otherwise it will get too hard and goopy to use. What the hell is that? I want a topcoat that I don't have to buy extra products to use! Anyway--I said my nails chipped before. Perhaps that was because I was applying the product incorrectly. We shall see. Perhaps it is worth buying the fucking Seche Restore that the Vite requires to keep. Ridiculous.

I think my cousin's boyfriend should go on So You Think You Can Dance. He dances.

05 June 2009

Scooby Dooby Doo Where Are You?

I cannot stop singing the Scooby Doo theme song. I think everyone in my house wants to kill me.

More makeup blabbering to follow:
I got Revlon Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder in Brighten, which is very similar to MAC's MSFs, except as far as I can tell there is little color pay off. It's is light pink with white and darker pink veining, and it applies as a soft, shimmery sort of thing, which I like. This means I can stop abusing my MAC MSF natural/shimmer because the shimmer side is almost gone (I use it on a daily basis because it is my LOVE), and I don't know if I'll be able to get another one, since they are no longer available in MAC stores/counters/website. I like the really soft, shimmery effect on my skin. I like it to look dewy. The only problem I have with putting a bunch of powder on my face is that it makes my dry skin unhappy. I'd actually really like to try the bronzey MFP from Revlon, and some of their mineral blushes. I like the texture of this one.

I've been trying to use my normal face lotions the past few days since they're neglected, but they don't give my skin the moisture it needs. I to use a facial cream. It makes me sad that my skin is so desperate for moisture. Luckily, I finally got the right cleansers for my skin.

I also bought L'oreal Telescopic Clean Definition mascara in blackest black, finally. First impression is that the wand is really flimsy. How the hell do people use these cheap, flimsy wands? I hate them. I have not yet used the mascara, obviously, but I suppose I will try it out tomorrow.

I also bought Jane Maxlash2 precise Lash Defining Mascara in black, of course. I just grabbed it on a whim because it was on sale. Again, it has a really flimsy wand. I hate flimsy wands! I will try this one on Sunday or something.

I also grabbed Jane Be Pure Mineral Gliding Liner in Earth (03). I'll probably use it as a brow pencil, but I like the color enough to line my eyes with it. I trust Jane in that regard. I really like Jane products. I find that they are highly underrated as far as drugstore makeup goes. So far, I've only swatched it, and it comes out this beautiful reddish brown, and it's pretty smooth. We'll see how it works on my face!

I also bought Jane Be Pure Mineral Blush in Rose Satin. It's a nice peachy color, which is what I have been wanting for a while. Swatching it on my hand proved it to be very sheer but very pigmented and pretty. I really like it, and I think it will look fantastic on my skin tone. The texture is very smooth. We'll see how it works on my face, but again--Jane is so underrated. It's a wonderful drugstore brand that makes highly pigmented eyeshadows, blushes, liners--everything. I haven't found any products of theirs to particularly dislike, except the pluming lip gloss.

I also bought got2b Smooth Operator Smoothing Luxury Mousse to help in styling my hair. I have tried it yet, but I got it 2USD off, so that's good. I put a lot of faith in got2b products, so I'm not concerned about how well it will work. From what I've been able to smell, it smells good. All of my got2b products smell delicious though.

I also got a huge tub to pull my winter wardrobe in. It barely fits... I need to go through it and fold it all and get it organized so all of it will fit. I was just really tired of my closet being super crowded. I'm considering selling a lot of my stuff because I just have too many things. I am not one to have so many things, though I do continue to buy things. It's very difficult to explain. Don't ask. (but it's in my post about compulsions, so maybe you should read that, k?)

02 June 2009

Mascaras I Want

  • Revlon Double-Twist
  • Stila Major Lash
  • L'Oreal Telescopic
  • L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion
  • Rimmel Glam Eyes
  • Rimmel Sexy Curves
  • Urban Decay Big Fatty in Black Cherry
  • Too Faced Lash Injection PinPoint (full size--I only has travel size)
  • L'Oreal Voluminous
  • Max Factor 2000 Calorie
  • Physician's Formula PlentiFull Thickening
  • Bourjois Volume Glamour
  • Benefit BadGal Blue

I think that's all on my mascara wish list. Yes, I am a mascara junkie. I love mascaras.

I'd also like to try Coppertone's Sunless Tanning Gradual Tan Lotion. I'll just try them all until I find a perfect one! And I like Coppertone products.

I am also considering trying L'Oreal's Ever Pure volume hair line, since it's for colored hair and all. I am particularly interested in the conditioning masques and the UV protect spray. My hair could use it! And all this stuff is on super sale at Ulta right now.

I'd like to try lots of things! I must go take a nap or something now. I don't know.

01 June 2009

Rubbish!

I cannot find the L'oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara anywhere, but there are so many new mascaras coming out that I'm super overwhelmed. I am such a ridiculous mascara junkie. That and foundation. I really want to try the regular Telescopic since I've never used it, but so many people seem to like it. I have low hopes of ever finding anything as wonderful as my Too Faced Lash Injection. It is quite a lot up to which to live, and no mascara I've tried has done it just yet. I still don't have a good brown or burgundy. Life will go on.

I have been using my Revlon Matte Lipstick in Nude Attitude a lot lately. I really like the slightly subdued pinky tone it gives my lips. I do not find it to be drying at all. It may pass my MAC Fresh Brew (from Hello Kitty) as my favorite lipstick, though the Fresh Brew is really moisturizing. All of my other lip colors have been lonely since I've only been using the Revlon lately. Poor NYX lip glosses, Jane Lipkick, Maybelline something or other, etc. Oh, and my poor Rimmels. I love Rimmel lipsticks. They have such a nice texture, and color payoff is fantastic. The only problem is that the red I have is really messy. It's very difficult to get it on without making a huge mess! Maybe that's just me though.

I am also really in love with my Maybelline Dream Matte Powder. I use it for touch ups during the day as I use a silica powder to set my makeup and MAC MSF natural/shimmer all over for a nice, dewy glow. It is more convenient to stick in my bag than the MSF.

I think I should probably put some of my unloved perfumes and such on MUA. They are harder to ship since they are liquids, but since I do not like them and do not use them, it makes sense to send them off to someone who might like them.

I am still sad that I am lacking purple in my life, and I am having a very difficult time finding a color shampoo that doesn't have a migraine inducing scent. Since I discovered that my Pureology was giving me migraines (oh woe!), I set out to find a new shampoo. They all seem to have similar scents that make my eyes explode and head pound, so I've been using my Organix Shea Butter shampoo. It's sulfate free, so I know it's not stripping color or anything out of my hair. So that's fine. I don't know that I have anything new to report on hair products.

I haven't got any new nail polishes, but I NEED TO. I really need more purples. It's killing me. It's making me depressed.

Lots of little, stupid things have been making me depressed lately, and I'm so tired of it. It's so stupid. I keep getting really angry at the boyfriend and angry about life and frustrated and hopeless and depressed and unhappy and just ... :o(. I have no appreciation for such mood fluctuations. My quality of life should be massively improved since I'm not in school at the moment (lots of rest), and I have all of my lovely medications. I fucking HATE people acting like my medicine makes me happy. It obviously does not. Seriously---fuck people who say shit like that. I think they need to be punched in the face by someone less pacifistic than I am. It is fucking infuriating. I believe I have lost all hope in humanity. I do not forgive people for treating their environment and fellow humans and animals the way they do. I do not know what else to feel toward them.

I still feel really sad for the octopodes at the aquarium. They looked so sad. I do not think I have ever seen an animal looking so unhappy. I feel like one of those little octopodes, trapped and unhappy, unable to properly hide and unable to swim somewhere else.

Birthdays and Being Realistic

Today is my lovey's birthday, and I am super excited because I feel like I have finally had the chance to give him a really cool birthday present. I feel like I always give him really lame gifts. :o/ I hope this one is spectacular and that he loves it and all that cool stuff.

I have been playing around with my nail polishes, and I decided that for this week my nails will be coated with OPI's Clubbin' Til Sunrise and China Glaze's Orange Marmalade. They make a really nice combination. It's very pretty and orange and glittery and nice. I also think that it will go really well with Love Dove's and my birthday activity tomorrow! :oD There was a more appropriate color I thought about using, but I was really in the mood to play, so I'm playing. Of course, in the process I managed to get nail polish on my new quilt! I hate myself.

I am really, really anxious about tomorrow because I am horrified that something will go horribly awry, and I just want everything to be happy and fun and perfect. I have knots in my tummy! No party here! and I can't sleep, though I need to sleep really well in order to really give Love Dove a spectacular birthday. I haven't been this anxious in almost a year. I am so unaccustomed to feeling this way all of a sudden. It used to be routine. I like that it's not, but I really don't like it! Ugh.

I am trying to form a realistic wish list with items that I can actually afford to buy for myself on a regular basis. I make these kinds of lists to remember things I want to try and remember things I really like and want to continue purchasing/using. Believe it or not, I can forget anything.

This list includes a few unique makeup brushes (which generally don't need to be repurchased), one mascara, two or three eyeshadows, a couple of eyeshadow palettes (that won't need to be repurchased for a really long time), and more MSFs from MAC.

My NYX Doll Eye mascara should be on its way to my house, assuming the person with whom I arranged the swap isn't a nasty swaplifter. It's OK if she is, but I'd like to get something out of it. I checked her swap tokens and all that stuff, and she had positive reviews, so I assume she's good for it. I cannot wait to try it. The problem is that I have already found my Holy Grail mascara, so why do I need to try more? Probably because my Holy Grail mascara is amazing and expensive as shit. But it's good, very good. I love it.

Now I think I can manage sleep or something close.

28 May 2009

My Wish List Just Got Bigger

I believe I mentioned wanting a really nice burgundy colored mascara. Well, I fucking found it. It's a more high-end brand of mascara though, so I'll have to wait until I have expendable funds to purchase it. I am still looking for something like it on the cheaps, but I have been unsuccessful thus far. Thank you, Urban Decay for making the thing which I desire most, and I would also like to thank you for making it not ridiculously overpriced. It's a price I'd pay for a good mascara in the color I seek desperately.

I wonder how to put a Twitter widget on my blog. I use Twitter for no reason at all since only 25 strangers follow me (well, a few of those people are friends, me guess). I use it like a PenSieve. I can clear my head by typing in a thought in 140 characters or fewer.

Operation Boyfriend Birthday Bash is already turning into a disaster. I informed him that I may be coming down with a heavy case of the H1N1 virus, and he may have to find a substitute for my birthday gift (as it is planned for two). He said "oh that's OK, I'll just veg out." No, you will not just veg out. I spent a good chunk of change on this shit, and it is time sensitive, and it damn well has to be done at the fucking time I fucking planned it to be. The fact that he said that he'd just "veg out" though leads me to believe that he'd rather do that than do what I have planned for (I hope) us to do which leads me to believe that I wasted a pretty penny on something he won't appreciate nearly as much as he would have appreciated doing the same fucking thing he did last year which is not hang out with his fucking girlfriend and instead hang out with his stupid fucking friends who don't give a shit about him or his fucking birthday. HMPH! After all I am not a fucking douche like everyone else, and I do not go out in public to spread my nasty fucking sicknesses everywhere. This is me being angry about something fucking stupid. Premeditated anger if you will. Self fulfilling prophesying is the name of the game.

Dear G-d, I love Twitter.

26 May 2009

Purple.

I am seriously lacking purple in my makeup collection and my nail polish collection. This has to change. I did a whole bunch of eyeshadow swatching the other night when I could not sleep, and I decided that there are not many colors I really need to add. I need a really good, bright orange, a good, bright yellow, and purple, preferably a darker purple. I have a light shimmery purple that I never use and don't particularly like, and that's it. THIS MUST CHANGE!

I also want to try this new L'orĂ©al Telescopic Explosion mascara. The wand is similar to that of Givenchy Phenomen'eyes, which I would never buy because it's overpriced crap, however, the want is very interesting. I don't think I've ever used a L'orĂ©al mascara. I stick to Maybelline, Rimmel, and Too Faced! I think that's all I have. Oh, I do have that one CoverGirl mascara. This reminds me that I want blue mascara. I do not know why. I just want blue mascara, and I want a more reddish-brown brown mascara. I can only find ones that look black, and I don't want one that looks black; I want one that looks BROWN. I also want an auburn eyebrow pencil, so it will match my hair color better.

Today, Pierre ate three roly polies. It was so sad to watch such a massacre of little isopods. I thought he just wanted to look at them and sniff them, but no! he wanted to nom them! Tsk tsk. I hope my cats do not eat them. They sometimes carry icky parasitoids, not that an icky parasitoid would hurt my dog, but still---gross.

My sister is very interested in disgusting little bugs, like the roly poly. She keeps asking what they are. I told her they are related to lobsters and crabs and lice, as they are a type of woodlice. Eiw. I suppose I could go through the entire kingdom, phylum, subphylum, class, order, suborder, family, genus, species, subspecies (except they aren't a subspecies) thing with her, but WHY would I do that?

I miss my gorilla studies. This is what makes me think sometimes that I should go into zoology or something similar. I liked being with them everyday.

I just got an e-mail from MAC saying that they will have free shipping on ALL order placed between now and 6 June. This means that I can order the slimshine lipstick that is being discontinued by itself, free-shipping, and be happy. I am excited. Thank you, maccosmetics.com!

I am dousing my hands in keratin and vitamin E lotion to help my nails grow as quickly as possible. They were cut super short for those acrylics, which I forcibly removed because they were driving me crazy, and now my nails are super short, and I hate it! Maybe I should start eating lots and lots of gelatin, too! They need to grow out faster!!!

Now I must take my noon nap. Ugh.
